Obert Mudamutsira says: “I have never been good at defining myself, at saying definitively who I am. I am of the opinion that this tends to place artificial limitations on who I can be, by what I am today. So I will say that I am a human being, “fearfully and wonderfully” created by God. I do firmly believe that I have a purpose for being here. I see one of my life purposes as helping to build people and institutions for success (not in the narrow sense of the word) and enduring significance. I believe that every person has the capacity to be better tomorrow than today, if they choose to listen to the right voices inside out. In my 23 years’ experience in the corporate and public sectors, in Zimbabwe and South Africa, I have been privileged to interact with some fine minds who had the potential to be more, but were stunted in their growth, because they chose the wrong narrative to listen to. I believe I can help people in this area, and through my consulting and coaching business, nothing humbles me more than when I see another human being, beginning to believe again that they are capable and good enough.”
In between this, he enjoys reading the views of great thinkers who are able to unmask the ordinary, to reveal the richness beneath, that so many of us are blind to. He also dares “to dabble in writing some prose and poetry primarily for private consumption. Private in this case means the love of my life, Lil and our four loving children. I must confess that my dear wife is slowly becoming a reluctant but accomplished literary critic by being coerced to review all my musings in word.”
